Our Backyard

Great news as the missing Australian surfers in Indonesia were found alive and well. The 7.7 magnitude quake struck near the remote Mentawi Island chain on Monday night, generating massive waves that swept ashore killing dozens of people.

The Mentawi Islands are a favourite winter destination for many surfers along the Great Ocean Road and in fact two members of the Great Ocean Road Real Estate team were there in June.

Real estate prices continue to rise in Aireys Inlet

The median house price in the Surf Coast Shire has recorded a 13.7% increase over the past twelve months to now sit at $563,000. The figures released by property data specialists RP Data, confirm the ever increasing popularity of the Surf Coast for home buyers. While some regions have experienced only minor growth in recent years due to the Global Financial Crisis, the Surf Coast continues to produce outstanding numbers.

So the Grand Final is over (finally) and Collingwood are premiers. Oh well, it’s going to a long summer while we put up with those horrible Pies supporters. One way to take your mind off the footy is to head to the Anglesea Music Festival this weekend.
