Welcome to Aireys Inlet

After 3 weeks of fine autumn weather, we are now getting closer to winter with temperatures dropping to the mid teens and cooler nights.

Real estate has been steady with one sale last week and another on the negotiating table – so things are still moving along.

Interest rates still remain low and the Melbourne market is continuing to perform well which sets the coastal market trend.

Well, the Great Ocean Road Marathon was run and won last weekend, with many thousands descending upon Lorne and Apollo Bay for the 6 events sponsored by Great Ocean Road Real Estate.

We have been blessed with the weather for the last two weeks with temperatures in the early 20s each day and off shore winds for the surfers.  A great pre-winter period for everyone to enjoy.

The Surf Coast Shire is proposing to increase rates for what it classes as ‘commercial holiday homes’.  The shire scoured holiday accommodation websites to identify the properties for this draft budget.

The budget was released for public comment on Tuesday night, with councillors hailing the ‘modest’ average rate rise of 4.75% as their lowest hike in at least a decade.

Barwon Water is investigating options to upgrade the Aireys Inlet and Fairhaven water supply system as the treatment plant reaches the end of its operational life.

The options include a new water treatment plant or pipeline connection to Anglesea.

Detailed design, cost estimates and preliminary environmental studies are underway.
