You have to feel sorry for those who spend much of the year looking forward to their holidays on the Great Ocean Road.  Firstly the beaches at Fairhaven are closed on consecutive days due to shark sightings (look closely at the photo below) and then it rains flat out for the next couple of days!

Welcome to Aireys Inlet

It’s the second last week of the year and it’s my last blog before Christmas.

The shops are busier in our peaceful little townships, the Great Ocean Road is busier and the empty walks on the beach are becoming a distant memory.  It may be Christmas but we are still hard at work while most businesses in Melbourne and Geelong are winding down.

A large shark was spotted off Lorne pier on Monday night, right where children had earlier been swimming (see below).  It sent a ripple of fear through many people just prior to the busiest period on the coast, yet the statistics tell us that the chances of a shark attack are extremely rare.

The lack of houses for sale in Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven and Moggs Creek currently sits at the lowest level in my twenty years as an agent in this area.

Our Backyard – Aireys Inlet

The Great Victorian Bike Ride headed our way today (Friday).

The ride commenced in Apollo Bay and wound its way through Wye River, Lorne, Aireys Inlet and Anglesea finishing at Bellbrae. The campsite is located behind the new Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery.

Saturday sees the participants ride from Bellbrae to Queenscliffe however this should have little impact on the Great Ocean Road traffic.
