Our Backyard – Aireys Inlet

The good news is that we are more than halfway through winter. I don’t know about you but I find that every winter seems to get longer, and colder.

At least the surf has abated this week allowing many to rest their shoulders and prepare for the next run of swell.

Whist we have just ticked over the halfway mark of the season the local market remains surprisingly buoyant.

To give you an example, we only recently listed  a fantastic house in Nancy Street, Aireys Inlet, which was for sale over summer with another agency and failed to sell. Just this week we have had two separate parties offer on the property with another two parties likely to offer in the next 48 hours.

In my humble opinion, this is simply a reflection of the current low levels of houses for sale in the area, but this is what happens when demand is strong and supply is low.

As I said to the vendor of the property this week, I just wish we had four houses like 7 Nancy Street so all of these buyers could be satisfied.

There has also been a run of land sales in Narani Way, Fairhaven. Again, a reflection of the lack of vacant land for sale in the entire area. As I hear often said, ‘they ain’t makin’ any more…’

We also sold a block in Moggs Creek this week meaning that there are now no houses or blocks for sale in the whole of Moggs Creek. Another tightly held pocket of the Great Ocean Road.

So enjoy the run home to spring and embrace the cold weather. Perhaps do so with gloves for the time being anyway…
