Welcome to Aireys Inlet
The federal and state governments have announced a $50 million safety makeover for the Great Ocean Road.
Federal Transport Minister Darren Chester says improving safety is a major priority for the government with six people dying in 213 crashes on the road in the past five years.
Jointly funded by the federal and state governments, the five year $50 million package of works will involve targeted safety improvements such as road and bridge strengthening, resurfacing and upgraded safety barriers and signs.
Construction on the project will start in early 2018 and is due to be completed by mid 2022.
