Our Backyard – Aireys Inlet

Winter may officially still be twenty four hours away but if this week is anything to go by, then it has certainly come early.

Appropriately, the Love Winter in Aireys 2019 program kicks of next Friday with the Aireys Biggest Morning Tea to be held at The Captain of Aireys.  Now in its eighth year, the festival is a highlight on the Surf Coast calendar.

Wednesday was bitter on the coast with much needed rain, wind, big swells and a top temperature in Aireys Inlet of only 8’!  Whilst 8’ was the top temperature it actually hovered between 5’ and 7’ for most of the day.

Many of the protected surf spots on the coast were busy and as many surfers noted, it was actually warmer in the water than it was in the car park.

On Sunday morning I was checking the surf at a favourite local haunt of mine as a pod of dolphins swam eastwards.  One rather feisty chap broke from the pack and proceeded to jump in and out of the water.  Thanks to being in the age of the i-phone I was lucky enough to capture a few shots to share with you.
