Our Backyard – Aireys Inlet

Norwegian drilling company Equinor announced on Tuesday that it had abandoned its plans to drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight. Financial reasons were cited for the company’s motivation to withdraw. Over the past few years several protests have been held on the coast as communities showed their opposition to oil drilling in the bight.

Finally some rain, with around 30mm recorded over two days although it has continued to remain dry since. Unfortunately for the weekenders, the rain all came on Saturday and Sunday.
