Our Backyard – Aireys Inlet

So whilst many are still celebrating the Tigers win in the AFL Grand Final last Saturday night, before you know it we have the Melbourne Cup upon us. Restrictions are easing and we expect this weekend will be the busiest here for a while. Of course after the 9th, when restrictions are further relaxed, we expect the coast will be nuts.

One of the biggest days on the Australian sporting calendar will be an interesting spectacle this time around with no crowds being allowed to pack out the Flemington stands and access to pubs limited in some states. Despite the lack of fans attending the famous race or forking over $2 for an office sweep, a field of 24 horses will race over the 3200m distance with a staggering $8 million in prize money.

The final field of 24 will be determined on Sunday night when the barriers are drawn for the race.

For many, Melbourne Cup weekend signifies the start of summer which technically doesn’t start until December 1, however given the bizarre year 2020 has proven to be, this summer will likely be the busiest here for some time, if not forever.

In local real estate news, the sale of 1 Stephen Avenue, Moggs Creek was finalised this week and this sale represents a new record price for vacant land in Moggs Creek. As we all know vacant land is scarce in this area but this sets a new benchmark for Moggs Creek in particular.
